Short story competition

We are excited to announce a short story writing competition for 18 to 25 year olds.

We are looking for short stories set in Fitzrovia in the year 2055.

The competition is open to 18 to 25 years olds with a connection to Fitzrovia and is for those who would like to imagine its possible futures.

First prize is a voucher of £30 with £20 vouchers for each of the runners-up.

The winning stories will be published on this website. The winner and two runners-up will also be invited to read their story in public.

The deadline for entries is midnight on 18 July 2026. Stories must be set in Fitzrovia, be between 1,000 and 1,500 words long and in a standard form, such as .docx or .rtf.

In the body of the email please provide a sentence or two about your connection to Fitzrovia and confirm that you are aged between 18 and 25.

Stories should be emailed to fitzroviafutures@gmail.com as an attachment, with an email subject of ‘FF2055 competition entry’.

On 28 June, we will be hosting a workshop, designed to help inspire your short story.

The sign up page can be found on the London Festival of Architecture website.

In the workshop you will gain insight and inspiration from the ACAN Urbanism and the Neurodiversity Architecture Network, specialists in architecture, sustainability and climate at the urban scale. There will also be tips on writing short stories.

Note: you do not have to attend the workshop to enter.
